Corporate Design

As part of the redesign and conceptualization of the website, a new visual identity was also implemented. The goal of the relaunch was a striking overall appearance with high recognition value, designed to enhance the perception of the UBA as a modern institution.

Website & Scrollytelling

The website has been continuously expanded and further developed in recent years. In numerous workshops, the needs of all specialist departments were identified and merged with user expectations. Great importance was placed on accessibility and barrier-free usage.

Scrollytelling

Useful features and website elements, such as a comprehensive website builder for storytelling, were successively conceptualized, designed, and implemented. This serves for the advanced processing and presentation of information on selected specialist topics.

The German Environmental Survey on Health (GerES) is a long-term study by the Umweltbundesamt on the health impacts of pollutants and other environmental influences on the population. With around 5,000 participants per survey, it is the largest of its kind in Germany.

We developed all communication media: from name development to corporate design, the design of all forms and information media, through to the development of a mascot. All media were documented in a clearly structured manual.

Social Media Management

In close coordination with the UBA's social media team, various formats have been created in recent years, the content of which has been further developed based on the interests of the social media community. Special milestones, such as the 50th anniversary, played a particular role in this.

"Air Quality" App

The app pools data from 400 measuring stations across Germany on health-endangering pollutants such as particulate matter (PM10), nitrogen dioxide, and ozone. The app provides hourly updated data and calculates the air quality index. Depending on the index value, the app gives health tips for outdoor activities. Measuring stations located, for example, on the way to work or near home can be saved as favorites for quicker access. The receipt of warnings can also be set up to ensure quick information in the event of poor air quality.

Hitzeknigge & "Schattenspender" Information Campaign

The overall design was developed for the "Schattenspender" information campaign, and the editing and copywriting were implemented in close coordination with the Umweltbundesamt. This included the layout and illustration of the "Hitzeknigge" guide, the creation of animations and social ads, as well as extensive information material. In addition, customizable templates for municipalities and other multipliers, along with checklists and guidelines for communicative support, were conceptualized and developed.
